2003-04-10 - 10:22 a.m. Time Shift (fiction) Note: Below is yet another vignette. Not fanfiction, thank god (maybe), but something that decided to flow out. (It doesn't even have a plot, mind you.) Forgive-ese and I hope I finish fast enough to go home for a little R&R (Reading and 'Riting) It was cold again that morning, but he didn't have the strength to bother whining about it. He was already an hour late. His mornings had always started the same: Wake up at five, get out of the bed at six. Take a shower, get dressed, and leave the house at seven. Drive a bit, get to work at seven thirty. Now, he was lucky if he could muster up the energy to get his ass up anymore. He blamed the time shift with the fury of a man that banged his toe against the table. He was falling asleep in the shower, he thought idly over the chatter of the morning djs. The wall clock just outside the shower curtain silently counted off the seconds, its long, black limbs cruising over its face with no apprehesion that it was stealing his time. Too tired to even focus on what he was feeling or doing, he could not concentrate as he turned the car on. Today was not a good day at all. Along the way, however, he was too tired to care about even that. Later! The Past - Guestbook - The Future, Too |
